Eagles Overwhelm Mesa in Second Half
The MSJC men's basketball team pulled away from visiting San Diego Mesa in the second half on Friday to pick up a 95-66 non-conference victory.
The Eagles jumped out to an early 24-9 lead midway through the first half, but the Olympians made four consecutive three point shots late in the half to cut the lead to 47-36 at the break. Mesa was able to cut the lead to 9 twice early in the second, before the Eagles went on a 15-3 run sparked by a Nick Pete steal and dunk and capped off by a Matt Bradshaw 3 pointer to build the lead to 64-43 with 12 minutes to play. MSJC pulled away from that point and let the Olympians get no closer than 16 the rest of the way.
Bradshaw led the Eagles in scoring with 17 points, all scored in the second half, as he went 5 for 8 from beyond the three point arc. Roosevelt Adams scored 16 points in the victory while also pulling down 7 rebounds. Tre Nottingham had 13 points and 5 assists while Kendall Brown and Devin Fleming both added 12 points. Pete and Tyler Cooper tied for the team high in rebounds with 8 a piece.
