Eagles Pull Away From COD With Late Push

The MSJC men's basketball team let a 13 point halftime lead slip to within 2 points, befotaylorcod.jpgre using a late surge to pull away for a 91-78 victory over College of the Desert Wednesday night.

The victory which was the Eagles seventh in a row kept them unbeaten in Foothill Conference play with a record of 3-0 and pushed their overall mark to 14-3 on the season.  Wednesday night the Eagles used balanced scoring to push ahead of the Roadrunners by a score of 41-28 at the half.  In the second half MSJC had to hold off some hot shooting from COD, but shot it well themselves down the stretch to notch the win.

Five Eagles finished the night in double figures scoring led by Anthony Dees.  Dees had 20 points including 6 three point baskets on the night.  Josh Gouch added 17 points for the Eagles who are currently ranked #2 in Southern California and #4 in the state.  Montreal Harris and Taylor Bell both had 16 points in the game with Harris also pulling in a game high 15 rebounds.  D'Anthony Peterson came off the bench to score 15 points in the win for the Eagles.

MSJC is back at home on Saturday afternoon when they face Chaffey College in a critical Foothill Conference game.  The Eagles are the only unbeaten team in the highly competitive conference.  Game time on Saturday is 3 pm.
