Eagles Run Past RCC for 6th Straight Win

The MSJC men's basketball team wrapped up the Riverside City College Holiday Classic on Saturday with a convincing win over the host Tigers 101-60 for the Eagles 6th straight win.TerrellGrayforRCC2-18.jpg

The Eagles raced out to an early lead and never looked back as they built a halftime lead of 58-32.  MSJC used a balanced scoring attack to continue to pull away in the second 20 minutes as they out scored RCC 43-28 to secure the easy victory.  Six Eagles scored in double figures in the game and 11 players in all had at least 2 points.

David Thompson, who was named the team's Most Valuable Player for the weekend, led the charge with 19 points and 6 assists in just 21 minutes of action.  Luka Filipovic and Isarael Farrington both recorded double doubles as Filipovic finished with 12 points and 10 rebounds, while Farrington had 10 and 10.  Justin Holiday came off the bench to add 12 points in the victory while both Lenzell Simmons and Saafir Moore also reached double figures with 11 points a piece.  MSJC shot the ball very well in the game including going 14 of 29 from three point range.  The Eagles also out rebounded the Tigers 58-36 in the contest.

MSJC improved to 11-1 on the season with the victory while RCC fell to 6-5, it was the Eagles second win over the Tigers in the past 8 days.  The Eagles will return to action this weekend when they host the Hemet Sportsman's Club Classic on Friday and Saturday nights.  MSJC will play both night's at 7 pm as they take on Barstow on Friday and San Diego Mesa on Saturday.  There will also be a game each night at 5 pm featuring Copper Mountain taking on Mesa Friday and Barstow on Saturday.
