Eagles Split Final Two at RCC
The MSJC men's basketball team won one and lost one in the final two days of the Wells Fargo Holiday Tournament at Riverside.
On Friday the Eagles rallied from a 17 point halftime deficit to beat LA Pierce 66-60. After a poor shooting first half MSJC found themselves down 39-22 at the break. The Eagles rallied to out score the Brahmas 44-21 in the second half for the win. D'Andre Williams and Shenon Johannes both had 15 points to lead a balanced scoring attack. D.J. Wright added 14 and Eric Lawton 10 for MSJC.
Friday's win set up a clash with Saddleback for the consolation championship of the tournament and the Eagles fell in a tightly contested game 68-61. The game was close throughout as the Eagles trailed by one 33-32 at halftime. The Gauchos were able to make some big shots down the stretch to secure the win. Lawton led the way for MSJC with 13 points. Wright and Jammall Clark added 10 each for MSJC.
The Eagles now stand at 9-5 on the season and have a couple weeks off before returning to action on Wednesday December 30th when they host Moorpark in a 7 pm game.
