Eagles Take Third at Palomar Tournament
The MSJC men's basketball team won two of three over the holiday weekend to take third place at the Palomar Thanksgiving Tournament.
In Friday's opener the Eagles defeated Pasadena 77-73 behind 28 points from D.J. Wright. D'Andre Williams added 15 while Jammall Clark came off the bench with 14. Wright also had 13 rebounds in the game. Williams and Shenon Johannes led the team in assists with 6 a piece.
In Saturday's semi-final MSJC lost a halftime lead and fell to College of the Desert 75-67. Wright was once again the leading scorer with 23 while Johannes had 17 points. Darnell Ferguson led the way defensively with 10 rebounds and 5 blocked shots.
The Eagles rebounded on Sunday to win the third place game against the Mirimar Marine Corps Air Station 76-70. For the third straight day Wright was the Eagles leading scorer with 18 points. Williams and Johannes each had 13 in the victory.
MSJC now stands at 6-3 on the season and get prepared for their first home game of the year Saturday night December 5th when they host San Diego Mesa College at 7:30.
