Hot Shooting Allows Eagles to Win Big at Home
The MSJC men's basketball team shot 55% from the floor on the evening as they defeated visiting San Diego City College on Wednesday 91-58 in a non conference game.
The Eagles started out by jumping to an early 9-2 lead and were able to maintain it for the rest of the first 20 minutes as they went into the locker room at halftime with a 42-28 lead. MSJC then pulled away slowly in the second half as four Eagles ended the night in double figures. Devin Fleming was the top scorer on the night with 20 points while fellow freshman guard Tre Nottingham added 16 points and dished out 5 assists. Roosevelt Adams just missed a double double with 15 points and 8 rebounds while Carl Brown came off the bench to score 14 points in the victory.
The win pushed the Eagles season record to 14-4 they are currently ranked #7 in the state and #4 in the Southern California Regional poll. San Diego City fell to 11-6, they entered the night ranked #13 in the latest So Cal Regional rankings. MSJC will be back in action on Friday when they travel to Imperial Valley College for another cross-divisional game against the Arabs. Friday's game is scheduled at 7 pm and will follow the MSJC women's contest with IVC.
