MSJC Men's Hoops Beats West Hills
The MSJC men's basketball team won a non-conference home game on Friday night as they defeated visiting West Hills 90-85.
The Eagles trailed by three at the half 42-39, but did take control of the game midway through the second as they built a lead as big as 10 in the second half. West Hills, who had only lost once coming into the contest, would not go away however as they pushed their way back into it late. Big baskets down the stretch by Davon Sanders, a pair of key free throws by Donnell Payne, and a big defensive play by C.J. Hyder secured the win for the Eagles.
Sanders ended the night scoring a game high 41 points which included 6 for 10 shooting from beyond the three point arc. Hyder added 19 points as he connected on five three point goals. A.J. Walton added 9 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, and a pair of blocks in the victory.
The win improved the Eagles season record to 6-9 while the Falcons fell to 9-2. MSJC will have a break now until January 2nd when they hit the road for a non-conference match up in Chula Vista against Southwestern.
MSJC's Davon Sanders went for a career high 41 on Friday night as the MSJC men's basketball team defeated West Hills 90-85 in a non-conference game. The Eagles will have a couple of weeks off for the holidays before returning to action on January 2nd at Southwestern. (DeeAnn Bradley/MSJC).
