MSJC Men Beat COD in Shootout
The MSJC men's basketball team won a high scoring game on Saturday as they defeated College of the Desert 105-98 in Palm Desert.
The Eagles and the Roadrunners both played at top speed on Saturday and COD went to the locker room with a 51-49 advantage at the half. The Eagles jumped into the lead with 15 minutes to go in the game and pushed it out to 6 on a couple occasions, but COD rallied back each time. MSJC finally took the lead for good in the final 4 minutes and used solid free throw shooting down the stretch to preserve the victory.
Samuel Williams led all scorers in the game with 29, while PeeWee Gardner added 23. Nikko Turner added 18 points and Roosevelt Adams had a double double with 12 points and 12 rebounds.
The win improved the Eagles record on the year to 12-4, while COD fell to 9-8. MSJC will be back in action when they open Pacific Coast Athletic Conference North Division play on Friday when they host Palomar at 7 pm.
