MSJC Men Head For the Holidays 13-1
The MSJC men's basketball team picked up two more wins this weekend in the Hemet Sportsman's Club Classic to improve to 13-1 on the season.
The Eagles ran out to a 15 point halftime lead on Friday night as they cruised to a 91-65 win over Barstow College. David Thompson continued to have the hot hand for MSJC as he finished his night with 23 points and 4 assists. Lenzell Simmons also reached double figures in the win with 12 while three players; C.J. Hyder, Deshawn Millington, and Terrell Gray all had 9 on the night. Millington also led the team in rebounds with 8 while Luka Filipovic pulled in 7 boards.
Saturday night's game with San Diego Mesa was similar as the Eagles built a 10 point lead of 50-40 at the half, before pulling away for a 106-74 victory. Millington was the big point man on the night as he finished with 26 on 12 of 17 shooting from the field. Justin Holiday came off the bench to add 16 while Simmons hit the 12 point mark for the second night in a row. Israel Farrington also scored 12 in the win and pulled down a team high 8 rebounds. Eleven of MSJC's twelve players scored at least two points.
The wins make it now 8 in a row for the Eagles as they get set to take a break for the Holidays. MSJC will return to action on January 5th when they host Southwestern College at 3 pm. Their game on the 5th will be part of a doubleheader with the women's team who will be taking on Mt. SAC at 1 pm.
