MSJC Men Push Win Streak to Seven
The MSJC men's basketball team pulled away late on Friday night to win their seventh straight game as they defeated visiting Southwestern College 93-75 in their final non-conference game of
The Eagles held on to a 39-36 halftime advantage as the Jaguars kept it close by hitting some tough shots. MSJC was able to slowly pull away in the second half and closed the game out by out scoring Southwestern 24-12 over the final seven minutes of the contest. Five Eagles scored in double figures and two other had 8 points as MSJC used a balanced attack and shot 55% from the floor in the win.
Kendall Brown led the way with 19 points, followed by Roosevelt Adams with 17 points and 7 rebounds. Tre Nottingham added 16 points and 4 assists while Devin Fleming scored 10 points, and Carl Brown came off the bench to add 12. Nick Pete and Orlando Quinones both added 8 points and patrolled the paint on defense for the Eagles as Pete recorded 5 blocks and Quinones had 3.
The win improved the Eagles season record to 19-4 overall, they are 1-0 in Pacific Coast Athletic Conference North Division play. Southwestern fell to 12-9 overall. MSJC's final 7 games will all be PCAC North games, starting with a trip to San Marcos on Wednesday to take on Palomar. Wednesday's game at Palomar is set to tip-off at 7 pm.
