The Eagles opened the tournament on Friday with a 83-71 win over Mt. San Antonio.  Four MSJC players reached double figures in scoring Friday led by Curtis Weathers who had a team high 15 points.  Jaryn Taylor and Tre Nottingham both scored 14 points and Mat Bradshaw came off the bench to knock down three, 3 point shots on his way to 11 points.  MSJC got off to a strong start as they built a 12 point halftime lead and maintained it through the second 20 minutes.

In Saturday's semi-final MSJC pulled away late in the game to beat Cuesta 92-83.  Nottingham led the Eagles offense Saturday with a team high 23 points while Taylor was just short of a double double with 20 points and 9 rebounds.  Carl Brown also reached double digits with 14 points in the win while Orlando Quinones and Jeremy Bonifacio both had 9 off the bench.

Sunday's championship game matched the Eagles against the tournament hosts Bakersfield and MSJC was able to battle back from a five point halftime deficit to force overtime and eventually win the game 78-77.  In a highly competitive contest their were 13 lead changes and 8 ties in the game before the Eagles could secure the victory.  Once again MSJC relied on a balanced scoring attack with five players reaching double figures in scoring.  Brown led the way with a game high 17 points while Weathers added 13.  Taylor had 12 for the Eagles, Bonifacio had 11, and Nottingham hit double figures for the third straight day with 10.  Nottingham also dished out a tournament high 9 assists in the victory.

Nottingham earned MVP honors of the tournament for MSJC while Weathers was named to the all-tournament team.

The three wins pushed the Eagles season record to 6-3 on the year.  MSJC will host the Hemet Valley Kiwanis Hoops and Crops Tournament this weekend on the San Jacinto Campus.  Games in the tournament will begin Thursday afternoon at 1pm.  The Eagles first game of the tournament will be Thursday night at 7pm when they take on Cuesta.

MSJC's Curtis Weathers was named to the all-tournament as the Eagle men's basketball team won the Bakersfield Thanksgiving Tournament over the weekend with wins over Mt. SAC, Cuesta, and the host school.
