MSJC Opens PCAC North Play With Win
The MSJC men's basketball team opened Pacific Coast Athletic Conference North Division play on Wednesday with a 68-61 home win over visiting Grossmont.
The Eagles led 30-26 at halftime and never could push their second half lead to more than seven. Grossmont stayed in the game behind Kaelen Mitchell's 17 points and Spencer Vering's 14 as the Griffons led the game by as much as five in the first half with 6 minutes left before the break. MSJC did out rebound Grossmont on the night 41-33 and made 12 three pointers in the victory.
Roosevelt Adams led the Eagles in scoring with 14 points he also grabbed a game high 9 rebounds. Kendall Brown added 11 points and 5 boards, he also dished out three assists. Carl Brown made three, 3 point field goals on the night and finished with 9 points. Orlando Quinones played solid off the bench scoring 8 points and pulling down 8 rebounds.
The win improves MSJC's overall record to 18-4, they are 1-0 in the PCAC North while Grossmont fell to 11-8 overall and 0-1. The Eagles will be back at home on Friday night when they play their final non-conference game of the year, hosting Southwestern at 7 pm.
