Men's Basketball Has Four Tabbed For All Conference Team
The MSJC men's basketball team who earned a share of their fourth straight Pacific Coast Athletic Conference Championship last week, had four players honored by the PCAC when the 2017 all
league team was announced.
Sophomores Tre Nottingham, Carl Brown, and Jaryn Taylor earned First Team honors while fellow sophomore Mat Bradshaw was named to the Second Team.
Nottingham, who was the PCAC North Player of the Year and a First Team All State selection last season, was the Eagles top scorer during the 2016-17 regular season. Nottingham averaged 19.5 points per game this year, good enough to lead the PCAC North. Nottingham who also led the team in assists at 5.4 per contest made 59 three point shots during the regular season and was named the MVP of the Hemet Kiwanis Hoops and Crops Tournament. Nottingham is an alum of Rancho Verde HS. Brown finished 16-17 with the fourth most made three pointers in the state as he drained 88 of them in 32 games. Brown, from Western HS in Louisville, KY, also shot them with great accuracy as he made 40% of his shots from behind the arc while averaging 12.5 points per game.
Taylor, a graduate of Yucaipa HS, nearly averaged a double double this season scoring 14.4 points and grabbing 9.1 rebounds a game. Taylor's mark of 9.1 rebounds was the best in the PCAC North and in the top 20 in the state. Bradshaw was also in the top 10 in the state in made three pointers this season as he finished with 76. Bradshaw led the Eagles in three point field goal percentage at 41.3 on the year. Bradshaw played high school basketball at Heritage High.Along with their teammates these four players helped MSJC to an overall record on the season of 22-10, they earned the #7 seed in the CCCAA Southern California Regional Tournament. The Eagles will kick off the play-offs on Friday night when they host East Los Angeles College at 7 pm. MSJC and ELAC have played twice already this season with each team winning once.
