Men's Basketball Nets Huge Road Win at Palomar
The MSJC men's basketball team moved to within half a game of first place in the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference North Division on Wednesday as they won on the road at Palomar 76-69.
The Eagles road the scoring of Samuel Williams as he collected 44 points in the win on 15 of 29 shooting including going 5 of 9 from beyond the three point arc. Williams also grabbed a game high 13 rebounds in the win. MSJC built their first half lead behind some solid defense as they went into the halftime break with a 35-23 lead.
In the second half MSJC maintained the lead despite shooting just 17 of 29 from the free throw line to come away with the victory. Blake O'Donnell added 15 points in the win for the Eagles and Nikko Turner and PeeWee Gardner each passed out 3 assists. Roosevelt Adams came off the bench to grab 8 rebounds.
The win pushed the Eagles season record to 19-7 overall and 3-2 in the PCAC North while Palomar fell to 12-12 and 4-2. MSJC will travel to MiraCosta on Friday for a 5 pm game. The Eagles are now tied in the loss column with Palomar for first place with three conference games remaining.
