Men's Hoops Moves Into First Place Tie

and move into a first place tie in the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference North Division with two games remaining in the regular season.

The Eagles started slowly trailing by as much as 8 in the first half, before Alan Palesano came off the bench to hit a pair of first half three pointers that gave MSJC a 28-25 halftime lead.  In the second half the Eagles had the lead pushed out to as many as 9, but MiraCosta never went away.  The Eagles had some chances in the final two minutes to put the game out of reach, but went 1 for 6 from the foul line over the last 1:56 giving MiraCosta one last chance.  With MSJC up 2 and seven seconds remaining MiraCosta was able to get off an open game tying shot, but it rimmed out and the Eagles secured the victory.

Samuel Williams led the MSJC offense with 13 points, Palesano added two more three pointers in the second half on his way to 12 points and Blake O'Donnell finished the night with 10 points and 8 rebounds.

The victory improved the Eagles season record to 20-7 the are 4-2 in PCAC North games.  MSJC is currently tied with Palomar a top the conference standings and will finish the regular season with a pair of home games this week against Miramar and Grossmont.  The Eagles host Miramar Wednesday and Grossmont Friday, both games start at 7 pm.

 

Alan Palesano came off the bench to score 12 points Friday night to help the MSJC men's basketball team move into a first place tie with a 57-55 win at MiraCosta.  The Eagles will finish the regular season with home games on Wednesday and Friday of this week.
