The Eagles opened the year with a 101-80 victory over Barstow.  MSJC ran their way to a halftime lead of 48-33 and continued to control the game in the second half on their way to the win.  Davon Sanders led a balanced offensive attack for the Eagles with a team high 20 points.  DeAndre Snedecor added 18 points and Israel Farrington also reached double figures with 10.  All fourteen Eagle players who played in the game scored at least 1 point.  Terrance Williams passed out 5 assists and Snedecor also grabbed a team high 8 boards.

In the tournament semi-finals the Eagles took on the host team San Diego City, the defending State Champions, and despite being down just one at the half lost 99-81.  MSJC kept it within striking distance on Saturday until the final four minutes.  Once again Sanders led the offense for the Eagles as he scored a game high 23 points, he also grabbed a game high 12 rebounds.  David Thompson added 15 points while Farrington was just short of a double double with 8 points and 10 boards.

In Sunday's third place game the Eagles jumped out to a 45-34 halftime lead over Citrus, but couldn't hold on down the stretch as the Owls took the victory 86-80.  Sanders led in scoring for the third straight day with 17 while Thompson scored 15 for the second day in a row to lead the Eagles offense.

The Eagles will be right back in action on Wednesday when they begin play in the Fullerton College Tournament.  MSJC opens that tourney with a game against College of the Canyons at 5 pm.
