Men's Hoops Team Bounces Back with Road Win
The MSJC men's basketball team got back on the winning track on Friday night as they picked up a Pacific Coast Athletic Conference North Division road win at Mira Costa 87-68.
The Eagles held a five point lead 43-38 at the half and held off some strong runs by the Spartans to pull away down the stretch with some timely shooting and strong work on the boards. A. J. Walton and Davon Sanders paced the MSJC offense with 19 points a piece. Both connected on three made 3 point field goals. David Thompson and DeAndre Snedecor both also reached double figures in scoring with 14 and 12 points respectively. Snedecor recorded a double double as he also grabbed a game high 10 rebounds while Thompson collected a team high 6 assists in the victory.
The win improved the Eagles to 10-12 overall on the season and 2-1 in PCAC North play while the Spartans fell to 6-13 for the year and 1-2 in conference games. MSJC will be back at home on Wednesday night when they host College of the Desert. Tip-off on Wednesday is set for 7 pm following the MSJC women's game against Desert which will begin at 5 pm. The Eagles finish the week and their first round through PCAC North opponents on Friday when they travel to first place San Bernardino Valley. Friday's game is also part of a doubleheader with the women's team with games set for 5 and 7 in San Bernardino.
MSJC's A.J. Walton had 19 points and 8 rebounds on Friday night as the Eagle men's basketball team won a road conference game at Mira Costa.
