Second Half Propels Eagles to 10th Victory

The MSJC men's basketball team bounced back from a close loss on Wednesday and used a strong second half performance Thursday to beat Pasadena City College 74-43 in the RCC Holidaykendalforpasadena-15.jpg
Tournament.

The Eagles lost Wednesday to Chaffey 63-59 after leading by as many as 11 points in the second half.  A rough shooting night cost MSJC the victory despite out rebounding Chaffey 52-39.  Kendall Brown led the Eagle offense with 17 points while Tre Nottingham added 10, Roosevelt Adams had a game high 16 rebounds.  MSJC had just beaten the Panthers last Saturday in the championship game of the Hemet Valley Kiwanis Hoops and Crops Tournament.

Thursday the Eagles showed some hangover effects of Wednesday's loss shooting just 10 for 28 in the first half on their way to a narrow 29-28 halftime lead over the Lancers.  MSJC took over in the second half and dominated all phases of the game out scoring Pasadena 45-15 in the second 20 minutes as they cruised to their 10th victory of the season.  Nottingham again led the way on offense as he scored a game high 24.  Nick Pete had a double double as he scored 10 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.  Eleven different Eagles scored in the win.

MSJC is now 10-2 on the year and will take on San Bernardino Valley today at 3 pm in the 5th place game of the 12 team RCC Holiday Tournament.  The Eagles entered the week ranked #8 in the state and #5 in So. Cal, while SBVC came into the tournament ranked #4 in the state and #2 in the Regional rankings.
