Second Half Push Gives Men's Hoops a Victory
The MSJC men's basketball team needed all 40 minutes on Wednesday night, but rallied in the second half to win on the road at San Diego City 91-87 in a non-conference match up.
The Eagles trailed 44-38 at the half and did not take the lead for good until Deshawn Millington made a jumper with 14 seconds to play in the contest to give MSJC an 89-87 lead. After a turnover by the Knights, Terrell Gray made a pair of free throws with 6 seconds left to seal the victory.
MSJC once again used a balanced offensive attack to win the game as five Eagles scored in double figures led by 21 from Gray off the bench. David Thompson had 19 points, Millington finished with 17, and Justin Holiday had a double double with 15 points and a team high 12 rebounds. Millington and Thompson both scored 17 of their points in the second half.
The win improves MSJC to 14-2 on the season while San Diego City falls to 9-9. The Eagles will return to action on Saturday afternoon at 3 pm when they host Imperial Valley.
