Strong Second Half Carries MSJC Men to Victory
The MSJC men's basketball team outscored visiting MiraCosta 53-36 in the second half on Saturday on their way to an 89-76 conference win.
The Eagles trailed by four at the half 40-36, before rallying to take over the game courtesy of some outstanding long range shooting. MSJC shot 40 three pointers for the second straight game and on Saturday were hitting them at a rapid pace as they connected on 19 of them. Tre Nottingham led four Eagles in double figures with 24 points. Nottingham knocked down five three points shots in the game and also had 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Carl Brown added 19 points and 5 boards as he also made five three point goals. Mat Bradshaw the third MSJC player to make five threes, finished with 18 points as well as a game high 6 assists. Curtis Weathers also found his range from deep as he made four threes to score 12 points on the afternoon. The Eagles did also out rebound the Spartans 42-35 to help secure the victory.
The win improves MSJC to 2-1 in PCAC North games, they are now 16-9 overall. The Spartans fell to 11-11 overall and 1-2 in conference play. The Eagles will be on the road Wednesday when they travel to College of the Desert and then return home on Friday night to host San Bernardino Valley. Both games this week will be at 7pm, both game this week are also part of doubleheaders with the women's team. The women's team will tip off Wednesday and Friday at 5 pm.
Tre Nottingham #11 had a team high 24 points on Saturday to help the MSJC men's basketball team to an 89-76 conference win at home against MiraCosta. Nottingham made 5 of the Eagles 19 three point field goals on the day. (DeeAnn Bradley/MSJC)
