Eagle Golfers Season Ends at Regionals
The MSJC men's golf team shot a two round total of 803 on Monday to finish 9th at the CCCAA Southern California Regional Tournament played at Bear Creek Golf Club in Murrieta.
Erick Liscio had the best day for the Eagles as he shot a morning round of 79 and followed it up with an afternoon score of 76 to give him a 155 total on the day. Liscio's 155 total left him just two shots short of qualifying for the State Tournament. Nathan Brady and Richard Schweitzer each had two round totals of 159 on Monday. Brady shot 80-79 while Schweitzer struggled in the morning round with an 84, but came back to card the team best single round of the day with a 75 in the afternoon.
Nicholas Medeiros and Cesar Cruz both turned in two round totals of 166. Medeiros shot 87-79 and Cruz shot 85-81. San Thomson shot 173 for the Eagles as he posted rounds of 85 and 88.
College of the Canyons won the Regional title as they shot a 743 in the two round event. Santiago Canyon was second at 760, Pacific Coast Athletic Conference Champion, College of the Desert finished 3rd at 765, and Orange Coast took the fourth spot with a team score of 773. These four teams advance to the CCCAA State Finals in Palm Desert next week along with four teams from the Northern California Regional.
The Eagles wrap up a strong season where they finished second in the PCAC Conference with a record of 42-13 and won the Eagle Golf Classic at Soboba Country Club back on February 17th.
