Golf Team Goes 9-1 in PCAC Finals, Secures 2nd Place Finish
The MSJC men's golf team had a strong finish to the regular season on Monday as they shot 374 and 369 at Yucaipa Golf Club in the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference finals to go 9-1 on the day.
MSJC's 374 was good enough for a second place finish in the first 18 holes of the day, giving them a 4-1 mark. Then the Eagles rallied to shoot 369 to take first place in the second round of the day as they finished ahead of all five of their competitors. The 9-1 record on the day secured a second place finish in the PCAC for the Eagles, who had already clinched a spot in the Southern California Regionals heading into the 36 hole conference finale.
Sam Thomson led the way for the Eagles in the first round of the day with a 72. Richard Schweitzer followed with a 73 while Nathan Brady turned in a 75. Cesar Cruz shot 76, Nicholas Medeiros a 78, and Erick Liscio a 79 to finish MSJC's first round. In the first round it was conference champion College of the Desert who posted the best team score with 362. The second round saw Brady rally to shoot 69, followed by Liscio's 73. Schweitzer had a 74 while Cruz put up a 75. Medeiros shot 78 and Thomson carded an 81 to give MSJC their 369 and a first place finish.
The Eagles will play next at the So Cal Regional on May 9th. The Regionals on the 9th will be held at Bear Creek Golf Club in Murrieta.
