Eagle Tennis Takes Down Ranked Foe

The MSJC mens tennis team hosted #13 cerritos college yesterday afternoon at the courts on the San Jacinto campus for a non-conference dual match and came out with a very hard fought 6-3 win. The #3 ranked Eagles played very tough in singles coming out with a 4-2 lead going into the doubles. Victor Bittar battled with everything he had against the current #1 ranked singles player in the state from Cerritos College. It was a see-saw battle and Victor had a couple of match points but ended up losing the match in the 3rd set tie-breaker 12-10. James 'Big Dog' Bragg also fought hard and pulled out a 10-7 3rd set tie-break victory which put the eagles in position to seal the match going into the doubles rotation. The #2 doubles duo of Bragg and Murilo 'Guga' Valadares, whom also won his singles match without losing a game 6-0, 6-0, remained undefeated on the season with an easy 6-1, 6-2 win which also sealed the match for the eagles. Tavyn 'Iceman' Libao also won in singles and doubles, teaming up with Joel Duenas for the #3 doubles win. 'Mr' Anderson Ribeiro battled hard and earned a tough fought win at the #5 spot for the eagles in the singles rotation. Weather permitting the Eagles will travel to College of the Desert on thursday to take on the 14 time state champions at the Indian Wells Tennis Gardens which will also be their 1st conference match of the season.
