The MSJC men's tennis team fell in the Southern California Regional Semi-Finals on Tuesday as they lost at Irvine Valley 5-1.
The Eagles lone point of the day came in the number one doubles match where the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference Championship duo of Vitor Galvao and Bruno Campos earned a victory. Irvine took the lead in the match though 2-1 after the three doubles matches.
In singles the top ranked Lasers won matches at the #4, 5, and 6 spots to put an end to the match at 5-1. Irvine Valley also had the lead in the other three singles matches that were terminated once the Lasers earned their 5th point.
The Eagles finish the season with a team record of 14-6, while Irvine Valley 17-2 advanced to the Southern California Regional Finals.
The Eagles still have the state singles and doubles competitions to look forward to at Oaji April 23-27th. Six MSJC players have qualified including the doubles teams of Galvao/Campos, Leo Matarazzo & Gabe da Costa, as well as Thiboud Garces and Thiago Trigo. In singles all but Trigo will compete.
The doubles team of Vitor Galvao (serving) and Bruno Campos (at net) won their match on Tuesday at Irvine, but it was the only point the Eagles earned in a 5-1 loss in the Southern California Regional Semi-Finals. Six Eagles will compete at the individual and doubles state torunament at Ojai April 23-27th.
