MSJC Tennis Player Earns ITA Title

Luis Jaimes, a member of the MSJC men's tennis team, captured the title at the Fall ITA Southern California Regional Tournament over the weekend at Cerritos College.luisita.jpg

Jaimes who was a huge contributor to last Spring's Eagle team who finished as the Southern California Champions and State Runners-up, won the final easily over Jordan Gobatie of Riverside 6-3 and 6-0.  Jaimes did have to fight off two three set matches to reach the final.  Jaimes finished last Spring as the 15th ranked singles player in the State and entered this tournament as the #1 seed.  While helping the Eagles to their best season ever last year Jaimes played #2 singles and #1 doubles.

Eagle players have dominated this event over the past few years as Jaimes became the 3rd MSJC player in the past five years to win the tournament.  The winner of the tournament gets an automatic bid into the ITA Small College National Championships which will take place in Mobile, Alabama October 11-14th.


Luis Jaimes a returning player for the MSJC tennis team won the Fall ITA Southern California Regional this past weekend  at Cerritos College.  Jaimes is the third Eagle in five years to win the title.
