Another Strong Outing for Lady Eagle Golfers

The Lady Eagles took to the road for the 4th Foothill Conference match in a row and again they headed towards the ocean, but this time to the south and Palomar College. For the first time this year, the temperature stayed below 90 and the course was San Luis Rey Downs.

Kathryn New again finished in the top 5 with a 79 on her first trip to the track at San Luis Rey Downs. New tied for 4th place in the field of 24 by shooting a 38 on the front side and posting a 41 on the back side consisting of 11 pars and 7 bogeys. New hit the ball well and made several long putts to save par and bogey, but she was unable to capitalize on numerous birdie putts that were much shorter in length. The only golfers to finish ahead of New were Comets from Palomar on their home course.

Katelyn Hardy bolstered her position in the top 12 golfers in the Foothill Conference with a 94 over the tree-lined narrow fairways of San Luis Rey Downs. Hardy's 11th place finish included 3 pars, 8 bogeys, and 5 double bogeys. Although the winds off the ocean picked up in the afternoon late in the round, Hardy played some of her best golf over the last 6 holes going 4 over. Hardy's round maintained her pace to qualify for the Southern California Regionals at the conclusion of Foothill Conference play at the beginning of November.

Medalist Honors went to Palomar Comet Beth Sellers with a score of 74. The Lady Eagles will have the next week off.  Mt. San Jacinto College will next be in action on Monday, October 12, 2009 when they travel to Mt. San Antonio College. Tee time is 10:00 a.m. at El Prado Golf Course.
