The MSJC baseball team beat Compton twice and defeated Barstow on their way to going 3-0 over the holiday break.
On Thursday the Eagles swept a double header from Compton winning 18-6 and 11-10. On Friday the Eagles defeated Barstow 6-1 to improve to 15-7-1 on the season.
On Thursday MSJC pounded out 38 hits in the two games. Randy Bruce went 4 for 4 with a home run in the opener driving in 4 runs and scoring two. Garland Norton had a pinch hit grand slam and right fielder Ryan Shumway hit a three run homer in the victory. On the mound Josh Peters picked up his sixth win going six innings and striking out five.
In game two Thursday the Eagles rallied for 4 runs in the seventh and 2 runs in the eighth to claim the victory. Chris Houston and Joe Riley both had four hits for MSJC, one of Houston's was a homer. Seven different Eagles had at least two hits as they pounded out 21 in the game. Raul Gonzales pitched 2 and 2/3 innings in relief to pick up the win.
On Friday Dakota Downs pitched 7 strong innings to lead MSJC to victory allowing just one unearned run. Luke Mullin picked up the save going the final two innings. Matt Palmer and David Ricker both had three hits to lead the offense with Ricker picking up two RBIs and Palmer collecting one.
The Eagles are back in action on Thursday when they travel to Ridgecrest to take on Cerro Coso. MSJC will host Cerro Coso on Saturday for a doubleheader beginning at noon.
