Basketball Teams Pick Up a Pair of Wins
The MSJC men's and women's basketball team each picked up a victory Wednesday as they defeated Barstow College in Barstow.
The men's team currently ranked #1 in Southern California and #2 in the state crushed the host Vikings 110-68. The Eagles were led by Marc Wilson and Tim Island who both scored 19 points on the evening as all 14 players broke into the scoring column. Dejuan Flowers added 17 points and 9 rebounds while Mark Williams dished out 8 of the team's 23 assists. The win improved the Eagles record to 18-2 overall and 2-0 in Foothill Conference play. The 110 points the Eagles scored was a season high and the second straight game that MSJC has hit the century mark.
In the women's contest Jennifer Marquez led the Lady Eagles to victory with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Jasmine Nyx added 12 points and 9 rebounds while point guard Michelle Simmons handed out 10 assists. The win pushed the Lady Eagles record to 3-0 in Foothill Conference play and 11-7 overall. The MSJC women are currently ranked #11 in Southern California and #19 in the state.
Both teams return to action at home this Saturday (Jan. 12th) when they host San Bernardino Valley College. The women's game will tip-off at 1 pm with the men's game to follow at 3 pm.
