Eagle Tennis Team Loses; Individuals Advance

MSJC Mens Tennis Traveled to the Ironwood Country Club on Tuesday April 21st for a California Community College Semi-Final Dual Team match against College of the Desert. The Temperature at the start of the match was approximately 105 farenheit which would put the court temperature at about 115 degrees farenheit. This made the playing conditions very brutal, nevertheless, the Eagles were prepared and eager to battle for a chance to play in their 1st southern california southern dual team final. Unfortunatley, that was not meant to be as the Eagles fell a little short losing to the roadrunners by the score of 5-2. Emmanuel Mensah and Taylor Witt secured singles victories at the top of the line up and Richard Tetteh was very close to leveling the match at 3-3 however he was broken at 4-4 in the 3rd set and eventually fell by the score of 7-5. Bruno Riech, Carlos Marquez and Tyler Park battled hard but also fell to their respective opponents in singles match play. This put the overall score at 4-2 in favor of College of the Desert heading into the doubles. The eagles put up a valiant effort but were finally put to rest by the host team giving up the all important 5th point at the #3 doubles spot by the score of 6-3, 6-4.
Once again the MSJC Mens Tennis team has proven that they are a formidable force to be reckoned with in the southern california community college community by reaching the dual team semi-finals for the second consecutive year. The Eagles would like to thank everyone for supporting the mens tennis program this season and look forward to the Ojai Tournament, Regional Tournament @ Long Beach City College and State Tournament in Sacramento.
