Eagles Take Two at Rio Hondo

The MSJC men's and women's basketball teams both picked up victories Saturday at Rio Hondo.

The men's team won 80-74, while the Lady Eagles prevailed 78-66. The men's team was led by sophomore post players Dejuan Flowers and Lee Stephens who had 22 and 19 points respectively. Stephens also led the Eagles with 13 rebounds. Point guard Mark Williams added 11 points and and 6 assists. The victory kept the Eagles one game behind Antelope Valley in the conference race and improved their record to 22-3 overall and 6-1 in Foothill action.

The women's team was led by Michelle Simmons who recorded 25 points, 16 rebounds, and 9 assists. Caysha Jackson and Kelly Johnson came off the bench to add 15 and 14 points to improve the Lady Eagles to 15-8 overall and 7-1 in Foothill Conference games. MSJC is currently tied with San Bernardino Valley for first place in the league.
