The MSJC men's basketball team kicked off Foothill Conference play at home Wednesday night with a 80-46 win over visiting Victor Valley College.
Four Eagles scored in double figures while 10 of 11 players that played in the game scored at least 3 points. Jeffrey West led the way offensively with 14 points while Jammall Clark added 13 and both Dakota Downs and Eric Lawton had 10 a piece. Darnell Furgeson just missed a double double with 9 points and a game high 11 rebounds.
The MSJC defense set the pace holding the Rams to just 17 points in the first 20 minutes on route to a 14 point halftime lead. The offense took over in the second half as the Eagles outscored VVC 49-29 in the stanza.
The win improved the Eagles record to 11-5 on the season and 1-0 in Foothill Conference play. MSJC is currently ranked #15 in the state. The Rams fell to 7-8 and 0-1. The Eagles are back in action on Friday when they host San Bernardino Valley in a Foothill Conference showdown at 7 pm. Last season the conference race came down to these two teams in the final game of the regular season.
