Eagles Win; Play SDCC for Trip to State

The MSJC men's basketball team won Friday night in the Southern California Regional semi-final over visiting L.A. City 97-84. With the victory the Eagles advanced to theSam O'Shea Regional Finals Saturday March 7th at San Diego City College. The winner of that game qualifies for the Elite Eight State Championships in Fresno March 12-15.

Friday night sophomore guards Melvin Goins and Mark Williams were the difference makers on offense as Goins scored 23 points and Williams added 21. The pair combined for 40 of those points in the second half. MSJC had to fight back in the second half from a six point deficit, but once they took the lead they never looked back. Curtis Bush and Shenon Johannes also ended the evening in double figures for the Eagles as Bush scored 13 and Johannes 12.

The win improved MSJC's season record to 23-10 and ended L.A. City's season at 22-9. Saturday's game at San Diego City will begin at 7 pm and you can hear all the exciting action on the Eagle Radio Network at 1620 AM or across the internet at msjc.edu.
