Eight Run Seventh Lifts Eagles to Super Regional
The MSJC baseball team battled all the way back from a 10-3 deficit to win a deciding game 3 in the Southern California Regionals Saturday beating Cerritos 12-11.
Trailing 10-3 heading into the bottom of the sixth MSJC was able to score one run in the sixth before exploding for 8 runs in the bottom of the seventh on the strength of 7 hits in the inning. In the 7th the Eagles sent 12 hitters to the plate and claimed the lead at 12-10. The Falcons added one run in the top of the ninth to round out the scoring. Reliever Josh Peters picked up the win pitching 3 innings and allowing just one run. B.J. Salsbury got the save getting the last two outs of the game.
The Eagles collected 13 hits in the game led by 3 from shortstop John Eshleman. Eshleman and Anthony Smith both had 3 RBIs.
MSJC improved to 33-11 on the year and now advance to the Super Regional at Orange Coast next weekend. Game times will be announced early next week.
The Eagles won an exciting game 3 over Cerritos to advance to next week's Super Regionals at Orange Coast College. B.J. Salsbury picked up the save in game 3 after earning a victory Friday in game 1.
