Football Team Falls in Finale

Despite a valiant second half effort the MSJC football team lost Saturday to visiting Victor Valley College 56-30.

The Eagles who were playing their final game of the season were down 34-0 at the half, before the offense made a game of it in the second half. Quarterback Carmen Boyer completed 14 of 27 passes for 119 yards and one touchdown. Running back Butch Tuvale added two touchdowns on the ground for the Eagles while Anthony Washington ran in for his first TD of the season. Courtney Pete was the receiving star on the afternoon mCPaking 8 catches for 101 yards and a touchdown.                                                  

On the defensive side of the ball Kupa Graycochea and David Quinones both had 8.5 tackles to lead the Eagles in that category. Zack Van Dousen had 5.5 tackles including two tackles for a loss and one sack. Kyle Shaw got an interception and returned 84 yards to set up an Eagle touchdown.

The loss concluded the Eagles season with a record of 2-8 overall and 2-5 in Mountain Conference action.
