The MSJC football team spent most of the evening Saturday on defense and the result was a 30-0 loss at the hands of Golden West College.
The Eagles did their best on defense to keep themselves in the game as they held the Rustlers to just 7 points in the first half despite Golden West starting drives on MSJC's side of the 50 four times. Two missed field goals and a late fumble recovery by the Eagles helped MSJC go into the locker room down just 7-0.
The second half started on a positive note for the Eagles as they forced Golden West into a three and out, but back to back turnovers by the MSJC offense led to two quick scores for the Rustlers. The game was dictated by field position and time of possession as Golden West dominated both categories. At the end of the night Golden West finished the game having possession of the football for over 41 minutes of the 60 minute game.
Butch Tuvale was able to manage 69 yards on the ground for MSJC on 19 carries, Daniel Chamberlain caught three balls to lead the Eagles in receiving. Defensively David Quinones picked up 13 tackles including one sack, while Clarence Laster also had 13 tackles and broke up 3 passes.
