Hoops Teams Split at Victor Valley

The MSJC women's team picked up a 78-38 victory Saturday night at Victor Valley, while the men fell 76-70.

In the women's game Jasmine Nyx led the way with 14 points while Kami Speir added 12 and Kelly Johnson 10. Michelle Simmons passed out 10 assists and pulled in 11 rebounds. The victory kept the Lady Eagles tied for first place in the Foothill Conference and improved their record to 17-8 overall and 9-1 in league play.

In the men's game double doubles from Dejuan Flowers and Lee Stephens were not enough as the Eagles fell to 6-2 in conference play and 22-4 overall. Flowers finished the game with 17 points and 11 rebounds while Stephens had 12 points and 13 boards.

Both teams return to action Wednesday night when they host Barstow College in a doubleheader. The women's game begins at 5 pm with the men's game to follow at 7 pm.
