Lady Eagles Pick Up Road Win at AVC
The MSJC women's basketball team stayed unbeaten in Foothill Conference action as they defeated host Antelope Valley on Wednesday 72-66.
The Lady Eagles who are currently ranked #4 in the state trailed the 10th ranked Marauders 35-33 at the half. A quick start to the second half allowed the Lady Eagles to build a 10 point lead before AVC came back to tie it late in the game. MSJC was able to hit a couple big shots down the stretch to regain the lead and then held on with solid free throw shooting for the victory.
Danielle Smith led all scorers in the game with 22, she also had 5 assists. Kyna Lewis added 17 points and 9 rebounds while Tiffany Smith scored 12 points all in the second half for the Lady Eagles. Nicole Villalobos scored 8 points and grabbed 8 rebounds and Autumn Spikes collected a game high 13 rebounds.
The win improved MSJC to 16-3 on the season and 5-0 in Foothill Conference action, Antelope fell to 16-5 and 3-2. The Lady Eagles are back in action on Friday when they travel to Barstow. MSJC's next home game is on Wednesday January 27th when they host Chaffey. Both games are at 5 pm and can be heard on the Eagle Radio Network at msjc.edu or AM 1620.
