Men's Basketball Starts 1-2 in Tip-off Tournament

The MSJC men's basketball kicked off their season over the weekend going 1-2 in the Tip-off Tournament.

The Eagles started fast on Friday as they downed Canada College 80-45 behind 13 points from Will Ceasar. MSJC moved on to face the state's #3 ranked team City College of San Francisco in the semi-finals and fell in a hard fought game 76-66. Melvin Goins was the Eagles leading scorer in the game with 19 points, while Jeffrey West added 9 points and 7 rebounds. Sunday's game for third place was another closely contested battle with MSJC coming out on the short end of a 65-62 game against Santa Rosa College. Shenon Johannes led three Eagles in double figures with 14 points. Goins added 12 and Curtis Bush chipped in with 10.

The Eagles return to action this weekend when they host the Hemet Elks Tip-off Classic at the MSJC Gym. Friday the Eagles take on Fullerton College at 7 pm and on Saturday MSJC host Riverside Community College also at 7 pm. Both nights also include a 5 pm game. Friday Riverside takes on LA Valley at 5 and on Saturday Fullerton and LA Valley tangle at 5 pm. Both of the 7 pm games can be heard on the Eagle Radio Network at 1620 AM or on the world wide web at
