Construction is underway on the Menifee Valley Campus for a new "home" softball field for the MSJC Lady Eagles.
Crews started work on the field in April and have made great progress over the first month of the project. The site, which is just to the West of the soccer field on the Menifee Campus, is expected to be operational for the team to work out this summer.
The Lady Eagles have played their home games at Wheatfield Park at the Valley Wide Recreation Center in Menifee for the past several years. "Although we appreciate having a place to hold our program, building our student-athletes a facility on campus will be the largest development in the history of MSJC softball," said MSJC head softball coach Gina Oliver. "Playing on a home field will create a sense of school pride and tradition."
The new field will also meet the standard NCAA and CCCAA dimensions.
The MSJC Board of Trustees approved the one-hundred seventy-five thousand dollar project. Sod is to be laid soon and the Lady Eagles first official "home" game at the new facility will be in February 2015.
Construction is well underway on a new softball field on the Menifee Campus. The Lady Eagle softball team who had been playing their home contests at Wheatfield Park will be able to play on campus next season as the project is expected to be completed in July.
