New Takes Medalist Honors; Hardy Top 10

The 5th time was the charm as Mt. San Jacinto College traveledKathryn New on 18th tee to El Prado Golf Course in Chino Hills for Foothill Conference action, hosted by Mt. San Antonio College. Kathryn New tied for medalist honors while Katelyn Hardy cracked the top 10 in the field of 24. While the temperatures were by far the lowest of the season necessitating sweatshirts and pants the Lady Eagles paid no attention and posted their best finishes of the season.

New carded a 74 when she shot a 1 under par 35 on the back nine after recording a 39 on the front side. Although New rimmed out one birdie putt and left another an inch short, both from less than 5 feet out, she nailed three birdie putts to go along with ten pars and five bogeys.

Hardy also blazed the front nine with a 39 consisting of 1 birdie, 6 pars, a bogey, and a triple bogey. Unfortunately, the El Prado back nine track provided a few obstacles that Hardy was unable to overcome and she posted a 50 to finish with an 89, which tied her for 9th place.

The Lady Eagles will again be on the road for their 6th straight Foothill Conference match when they return to the El Dorado Golf Course hosted by Long Beach College. The women will tee off beginning at 10:45 a.m., on Wednesday, October 14, 2009. Mt. San Jacinto College will host the first intercollegiate women's golf match in the history of the school on Monday, October 19, 2009, at their home course, Oak Valley. The Lady Eagles will tee it up beginning at 10:00 a.m. and admission is free.
