Nottingham and Johnson Named PCAC Athletes of the Week
MSJC men's basketball player Tre Nottingham and women's basketball player Sarina Johnson were named the Male and Female Athletes of the Week yesterday by the Pacific Coast Athletic
Nottingham led the Eagles to the championship of the Kiwanis Hoops and Crops Tournament over the weekend as MSJC improved to 8-1 on the season. Nottingham had 19 points in the Eagles first round win over Lassen and followed that with a 21 point and 8 assist effort in the semi-finals as MSJC beat Yuba. In Saturday's tourney title game Nottingham had 20 points and 5 assists to give the Eagles the victory and the championship as they beat Chaffey.
Johnson helped keep the Lady Eagles undefeated on the season as they won three games to claim the title of the Panther Pride Tournament at Chaffey College. Johnson scored 26 points to open the tournament on Friday as MSJC beat Oxnard and in Saturday's semi-final added 15 as the Lady Eagles beat the host Chaffey squad. Johnson also came through in the championship game on Sunday as she scored 16 points and passed out 7 assists to lead the Lady Eagles past LA Trade Tech. MSJC is now 9-0 on the year.
