Six Eagles Honored by Conference
The MSJC football team had six players honored by the Mountain Conference this past week led by safety Clarence Laster. Laster was a unanimous First Team all conference pick. Laster was second in the Mountain Conference in total tackles with 89 and tied for fifth in interceptions with 3.
Five Eagles were named second team all conference including offensive tackle Jose Acuna and guard Chad Collins. Both Acuna and Collins were two year starters for MSJC, with Collins moving from center to guard between his freshman and sophomore seasons. A pair of wide receivers were also named second team all conference as sophomore Daniel Chamberlain and freshman Courtney Pete were honored. Chamberlain finished the season 6th in the conference in receiving yards with 693 on the season. Pete who was named to the team as an all purpose offensive player had 7 touchdowns on the year and was 12th in the conference in receiving yards.
The final Eagle named to the second team All Mountain Conference squad was defensive end Zack Van Duesen. Van Duesen finished the season third in the Mountain Conference in sacks with 6 and 16th in the conference in total tackles.
Freshman saftey Clarence Laster was named First Team All Mountain Conference, and five of his teammates were named to the second team.
