Six Lady Eagles Make College Choices
Six members of the MSJC women's basketball team have signed scholarships over the past two months to continue their education and playing careers.
Foothill Conference MVP Michelle Simmons has signed with San Diego Christian College. Simmons started every game in her two year career for the Lady Eagles leading the team to 48 wins in two seasons. The third team All State point guard will be joined at SDCC by a pair of teammates; Thalia Benjamin and Kelly Johnson. Benjamin was a first team All Foothill Conference selection this past year for MSJC averaging over 9 points and 10 rebounds per game. Johnson, a shooting guard, was the Lady Eagles leading three point shooter.
Jennifer Marquez, a two year starter for MSJC at small forward has signed at Dickinson State in North Dakota. Marquez was a first team All Foothill Conference selection as a freshman and honorable mention all conference as a sophomore. Marquez helped MSJC to a conference record of 27-3 over the past two seasons.
Kami Speir and Dorinda Chaney will both attend Bacone College in Muskogee, Oklahoma next year. Chaney will compete in volleyball, while Speir will play both volleyball and basketball.
All six of the Lady Eagles signees have either earned their AA degrees or will complete them this summer.
