Tetteh and Witt Fall in Close Match at State

The Msjc Mens Tennis Team traveled to Sacramento last Thursday having qaulified for the state individuals for the 2nd year in a row. Representing the eagles this year in doubles was the doubles team of Taylor Witt and Richard Tetteh. This was a special year for the duo as they had recently become the 1st MSJC mens doubles team ever to reach the final of the prestigious Ojai tournament. Taylor and Richard came into the state individual tournament, held at the Natomas Racket Club in Sacramento, seeded #4 from the southern california region by virtue of their semi-final result at the southern california regionals 2 weeks ago.
The eagle duo were matched up against the #4 seeded doubles team from Santa Rosa College in the 1st round which consisted of 16 doubles teams from the north and south combined. The match started out tough for the eagles falling behind 5-2 in the 1st set, nevertheless the talented eagle team fought back and forced the tie-breaker in the 1st set. After a very hard fought match the eagle team eventually fell in 3 sets by the score of 7-6 (4), 4-6, 6-4. It was an unfortunate end to a very successful season, but the Eagles can hold their heads high knowing that they battled hard and played with an incredible amount of passion and heart on the court all season long! A very special thank you goes out to everyone that has supported this very talented mens tennis program this season.
