Three Eagle Athletes Honored

Three MSJC student athletes were recognized last night at the school's Honors Convocation. Dan Nguyen-Huu, Michelle Simmons, and Pulu Otokolo were presented awards from Athletic Academic counselor Jennifer Burleson.

Nguyen-Huu, a member of the record setting men's tennis team was named the Male Student Athlete of the Year. Dan, who is also the ASB vice president and an honors student, helped MSJC to their first ever play-off win this spring. The men's tennis teahonors convocationm also captured the Pacific Coast Conference Championship.

Michelle Simmons, a member of the women's basketball team received the Female Student Athlete of the Year honor. Michelle was the MVP of the Foothill Conference this year and a third team All California selection. Michelle will graduate this summer.

Pulu Otokolo was one of five student athletes in the entire state to receive an award from the California Community College Athletic Academic Advisers. Pulu was a two year starter for the Eagles football team and will graduate this summer. The award is given to student athletes who have shown great perseverance in pursuit of their academic goals.
