Women's Tennis Team Falls in Tight Match

#3 MSJC Womens Tennis hosted Cerritos College for a non-conference dual match last Thursday at the MSJC tennis courts. It was a very hard fought match and ultimately came down to the wire with MSJC coming on the short end of a 5-4 score! The lady eagles battled hard against a Cerritos team which has dominated the south coast conference for the past 5 years. #1 ranked singles player in SoCal JC Womens Tennis, Amal Ben El Hadj remained undefeated in singles having yet to surrender a set in match play. #4 ranked Nicole Lessley also played hard and dominated her opponent easily capturing her match in straight sets. Unfortunately, the other lady eagles could not pull out any other singles points and headed into the doubles down 4-2. The #1 ranked doubles team in SoCal JC Womens Tennis, Amal Ben El Hadj and Nicole Lessley quickly won their match and brought the score closer to 4-3. The #2 lady eagles doubles team, Sahara Miller and Brittney Henderson dug in and pulled out a very close win by the score of 10-8 to even the match at 4-4. Unfortunately, the victory fell out of reach as the #3 doubles team, Shannon Rehm and Julie Wright fell in their doubles match 10-7. Nevertheless, this match definetely showed that the lady eagles were more than capable of holding their own against such a formidable opponent and look to get back on the winning track this week against Palomar College on 2/18/10 @ Palomar College.
