The MSJC softball team started a busy weekend with a heart wrenching extra inning loss to San Diego City on Friday, but bounced back to split a pair of non conference games on Saturday.
Friday the Lady Eagles were looking for their first Pacific Coast Athletic Conference win of the season and held a two run lead at San Diego City heading into the bottom of the sixth. The Knight would rally for two to tie the game and then push across the winning run in the bottom of the 10th inning. Jena Chilson pitches 9 and 1/3 innings allowing just 2 earned runs in the 5-4 tough luck loss. Chilson also added an RBI as did Maegan Rowley. Nana Oloa had 2 RBIs and Sierra Falcon helped the offense with 4 hits.
Saturday MSJC traveled to Lancaster to play a pair of non conference games against Antelope Valley and Chaffey. In the Chaffey game the Lady Eagles pounded out 19 hits on their way to a 12-6 victory. Chilson picked up the pitching victory for MSJC. Rowley had a big game at the plate with 3 hits and 4 RBIs while Alyssa Rayls had 4 hits and 3 RBIs. Angie Lopez added a pair of hits and a pair of RBIs as well in the win. The Lady Eagles finished the weekend with a tough loss to Antelope Valley 27-7. In that game Lopez, Chilson, and Tiffany Lee each drove in two runs a piece.
MSJC now stands at 4-11 on the season and are 0-4 in PCAC competition. The Lady Eagles return to action with two games this week. Wednesday MSJC will travel to El Cajon to take on Grossmont and Thursday the Lady Eagles will host Imperial Valley in Menifee. Both games are scheduled to begin at 3 pm.
Maegan Rowley had 5 RBIs over the weekend for the MSJC softball team as they lost to San Diego City and Antelope Valley, but picked up a win against Chaffey.
