Lady Eagles Fall at First Place Palomar

The MSJC softball team ran into a hot hitting Palomar squad on Friday as they lost a Pacific Coast Athletic Conference game to the first place Comets 11-3 in San Marcos.lindsey2014.jpeg

Palomar got off to a fast start scoring 4 runs in the bottom of the first and four more in the bottom of the second to take a 8-0 lead.  The Lady Eagles tried to get back in the game scoring a pair of runs in the top of the third and adding one more in the top of the fourth to cut it to 8-3, but that would be as close as MSJC could make it as the Comets answered with 3 in the bottom of the fourth.  Maci Lerno came on in relief for Palomar to pitch a scoreless top of the 5th to end the game.

For the Lady Eagles Roni Alonzo and Lindsey Lashook both drove in a run as MSJC managed 5 hits on the day.  Rayna Winters had a triple and scored a run.  MSJC did have trouble in the field on Friday as they committed 5 errors making starting pitcher Lauren Partnoff's job difficult against the defending state champion Comets.  Partnoff threw four innings allowing 11 runs, but just 5 of them were earned.  Partnoff did not surrender a walk and struck out four.

The Lady Eagles are now 11-12 overall on the season and 2-5 in PCAC play while Palomar improved to 15-2 and 8-0.  MSJC will be back in action on Wednesday when they host San Diego Mesa at 3 pm in Menifee.

Lindsey Lashook had an RBI double on Friday as the MSJC softball team lost at Palomar College 11-3.  The Lady Eagles return home for a 3 pm game on Wednesday at Wheat Field in Menifee when they take on San Diego Mesa.
