The MSJC softball team split a doubleheader with Southwestern on Wednesday winning game one 7-2 and losing game two 7-4.
In game one Shalisa Treharne picked up the victory pitching while Sam Martinez got the save. MSJC jumped out in front with 3 runs in the top of the second inning and never relinquished the lead. The offensive stars of game one included Lynsie Caldwell (2 for 3, 2 RBI), Klarissa Flores, Anissa Anglin, and Audrey Fooks.
In game two the Lady Eagles couldn't come back from an early deficit despite rallying for four runs in the top of the fourth inning. Angel Felipe took the loss for MSJC despite giving up only two earned runs in a complete game. MSJC out hit Southwestern in the losing effort 11-6. Sam Felipe, Angel Felipe, Stephanie Cardenas, and Flores all had two hits a piece for MSJC.
MSJC is now 1-2 on the season and return to action Saturday when they travel to Orange for a doubleheader with Santiago Canyon. Game times are set for noon and 2 pm.
