MSJC Softball Kicks Off Season with DH Split

The MSJC softball team started their 2016 season on Friday with a doubleheader split against visiting San Bernardino Valley on the Menifee Campus.jenachilson-2016.jpg

The Lady Eagles won the opener 3-2 behind a complete game in the circle from Jena Chilson.  Chilson allowed just six hits over seven innings of work and one earned run with no walks.  Nicole Stressling, Ashley Brown, and Sierra Falcon each scored one run, while Jordan Sage and Sam Munoz each picked up an RBI.  MSJC had 5 hits total in the game.

In game two MSJC let a 2-0 lead slip away as they fell to the Wolverines 4-2.  Sage started the game pitching for MSJC and threw four hitless innings, before being replaced by Falcon.  SBVC rallied for two runs in the top of the fifth and added two more in the sixth to take the lead.  Amanda Escalera had two hits and an RBI for the Lady Eagles while Brown scored a run and drove in another.  Stressling crossed the plate for MSJC's other run in the contest.

The Lady Eagles were rained out on Sunday when they were supposed to play at College of the Desert.  No make up date has been set.  MSJC will be back in action on Wednesday February 3rd when they travel to Barstow for a doubleheader.  Wednesday's games are scheduled for 1 and 3 pm.

Jena Chilson threw a complete game on Friday to help the MSJC softball team to a 3-2 win over visiting San Bernardino Valley in the first game of a doubleheader.  The Lady Eagle dropped the second game 4-2.
